This week , my family and I have a chance spending our holiday in Singapore using a public transport and this is going to be our first experience . Previously most of our trip to Singapore by air ie through Changi Airport as our landing point .
We plan to spend our holiday for a night in JB and 3D2N in Singapore . As usual I prepared the necessary things before going for our trip , changed currency , RM to SGD ie RM2.56 eqv to SGD1.00 and booked our hotel via Agoda.com for two rooms each . The booking ended with a night in Tune Hotel , Danga Bay , Johor Bahru ( RM100 per night ) and 2 nights in Singapore , a night in Santa Grand Bugis Hotel ( RM600 per night ) and BIG Hotel near the Bocoolen street ( RM 700 per night ). The reason behind why we booked 2 different hotel due to Santa Grand Bugis hotel is fully booked . From my experienced , it is advisable to booked 1 single hotel for the days since it is really troublesome to packed and unpacked our luggage while transfering to another hotel .
Day 1 :
Our journey starts from the Tune hotel . We check out from the hotel and drive to JB Sentral at 8 am . At first it is really confusing to look for the parking lots at the JB Sentral , but after asking for the direction from the police , we managed to find the place by following jalan Que Bee . To our surprised the parking lots really full ! so it is advisable to come early as early as 6 am if you want to park your car over here . Another option is to park your car at Sun City parking lots , it is an open space parking and just next to the JB Sentral and the charges is RM12 per day . Finally we parked our car over there .
We have our breakfast at JB Sentral food court . After that we start our " walking " journey to the imegresen check point for our passport validate going for " overseas " . Then we walking again to the bus station downstair and we choose the Causeway Link bus CW1 to Kranji MRT station with the fare of RM1 per pax . We took the bus cross the causeway until Woodlands CIQ just a few minute then we have to go out from the bus and walk to Singapore Imegresen for another passport validation for entering the country . After that we walk back to our CW1 bus and proceed to the Kranji MRT station which only tooks us around 5 min . At Kranji , we buy the MRT ticket for SGD2.50 per pax for the Ang Mo Kio station , where we going to buy the Singapore Tourist Pass . Please look for " Ticket Office " for the pass and it is located in the same building of the station . Don't be like me , proceed to the shopping complex and went to the " Bus Interchange Ticket Office " . For the pass details , please refer to their website .. thesingaporetouristpass.com.sg . For your info , we bought 2 days pass where the fee was SGD26 incl refundable SGD10 if you return the pass as per their term and condition . As a tourist , its really convenient to us since we can used unlimited usage of MRT , LRT or Bus in within 2 days .
After that we took the MRT to the Lavender Station for our Santa Grand Bugis Hotel . Exit from the MRT , my family feel very tired coz of a lot of walks , so we decided to take taxi to the hotel . It is not very far and the fare just SGD3 .
The hotel is really near to the Sultan Mosque and the famous Arab Street . The staff is very nice and friendly . We check in and have our rest for 2 hours . The room is small but it is bigger than Tune hotel . The most important things , the room is very clean and tidy . The room incl with breakfast and they served halal foods ,
At 3 pm , we went out for our lunch at the Tasneem Restaurant near the Arab Street .We ordered for 2 chicken briyani and 1 mutton briyani ( SGD24 ). The taste was very nice . After lunch , we proceed to our next agenda ie to visit Merlion Park , Marina Bay Sands ( MBS ) Sky park and The Garden by the Bay . Merlion park is the famous tourist attraction in Singapore and if you have your picture over there , considered as you have already been in Singapore . Another 2 icons , the MBS , is the hotel , casino and the shopping malls whereas The Garden by the Bay is the garden of tropical Khatulistiwa forest .
We went to the Merlion park via the Raffles Place MRT station . From the station , we walk to the park . Along the way , you can see a really breath taking scenery , the Singapore river , the Museum , the Fullerton Hotel and the high rise building . Not very far , we reached the park . It is really impressive and awesome view of the Merlion with a scenic view of MBS , the esplanade , the theatre , the Art Meseum and another angle view of the high rise building . We spend almost 2 hours over here , tooks picture and enjoyed the view .
Next we proceed to the MBS via the Bayfront MRT station . We proceed to the MBS sky park at the 56th floor with the fee of SGD20 per adult and SGD14 per children . This is another awesome view , the scenic view of the Merlion , the Fullerton hotel , the theatre , the Art Meseum , the Garden by the Bay and the high rise building from the sky . We spends over there for another 2 hours and can see the beautiful view from the sun set , dawn until night ... the glory of the lights and the neons !! Feel really romantic , while watching the view and sat close to each other with my loving wife .
At 8 pm , we went down and back to the Bugis Station for our dinner at the Arab Street . This time we choose the famous ZAM ZAM Restaurant and recommended by most of the bloggers . We ordered for the famous murtabak , nasi briyani and nasi goreng ayam ( SGD34 ) . The taste was unbelievable , very nice .... another compliment from this blog , please give a try ..........
After dinner , we went back to our hotel for a good night rest .... especially ... our feet and legs !!! My wife really excited for tomorrow itenary .... why ???? Just wait for next entry for Day 2 !
